AHA Heartcode®
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Heartcode® - Hybrid CPR course for healthcare professionals
Many healthcare providers are required to find and complete their BLS training on their own. Heartcode® is hybrid and is perfect for those of you who have been taking BLS for years and need their recertification. This course is a product of and provided through the AHA. You will complete the AHA didactic portion of the course online (ebook included). Use this link to purchase the AHA online course. Next, you will sign up for your hands-on skills demonstration with Betty, an AHA certified instructor, using the online scheduling system below. You must bring your AHA online course completion code with you to the hands-on skills demonstration. Up to eight (8) participants are allowed to sign up in a 2-hour block. Time to complete will depend on your skill level. You must arrive at the beginning of the time block you signed up.

AHA Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED
The Heartsaver® courses are small groups, of no more than nine (9) participants, learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED), and first aid. All courses also include the AHA “Hands only” technique.
HeartSaver® courses are meant for people who are not healthcare providers but need the certification for their job or desire the knowledge to protect their family and friends. As part of this course, you will receive the AHA Heartsaver® workbook at the beginning of class to use during the class and take home for future needs. You will also be able to use your book during the exam (if applicable). Betty will help you to determine if you need to take the written exam.
Upon successful course completion, skills check off, and passing the written exam (if applicable), you will receive a Heartsaver® Certificate of Completion specific for the skills you accomplished! IF you would like an AHA ecard which is valid for 2 years, there is a $20.00 AHA administration fee you would need to pay.
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. If you have physical conditions that might prevent you from participating in the course, please tell Betty when you arrive. She will work with you to accommodate your needs within the course completion requirements. If you are ill, please notify Betty to reschedule your training.
The AHA Heartsaver First Aid Course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements – and for those who want to learn life-saving first aid to assist family and friends. Who should take this course? Anyone who needs their United States Coast Guard (USCG) captains license or working on a boat/ship as crew that requires USCG CPR/AED and first aid compliance. And, any non-healthcare provider who want the most comprehensive CPR/AED and first aid learning experience to be the most confident in keeping their family and friends save in any environment.
Heartsaver® Total includes adult, child, and infant CPR/AED and the US Coast Guard (USCG) Elementary First Aid* training requirements of:
- Elementary First Aid per STCW Code Table A-VI/1-3;
- Elementary First Aid per 46 CFR 11.302(a)(3) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(3);
- The first aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1).
During these 6 hours, you will be guided by an experienced healthcare professional and educator to learn and practice new skills. You will have time to practice and ask questions before skills check off. The AHA allows access to resources during the written exam.
Not only will this course meet the requirements for you to earn your Captain’s license, but you will also learn the skills to keep your crew, family, and neighbors safe and offer lifesaving interventions.
Upon successful course completion, skills check off, and passing the written exam, you will receive the USCG approved Certificate that has the code (AMERHA-216) on it!
Heartsaver® Total also meets Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements if taken in its entirety. OHSA and USCG require that you pass this exam as part of their approval process, not all Heartsaver® courses require the exam. Betty will help you to determine if you need to take the written exam.
Who should take this course? Any non-healthcare provider who wants to learn how to perform CPR/AED for adults, children and infants, to include how to respond to choking for each.
The AHA Heartsaver® CPR AED course is designed for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or for other requirements – and for those who want to learn life-saving CPR/AED to assist family, friends, and colleagues.
Upon completion of all course requirements, participants receive a certificate of completion with specific skills indicated. IF you would like a Heartsaver® CPR AED Course Completion Card which is valid for two years, there is a $20.00 AHA administration fee you would need to pay.

Who should take this course? Any non-healthcare provider who wants to learn how to perform CPR/AED and the most common medical or injury emergencies for adults.
The Heartsaver First Aid course trains participants first aid basics for the most common first aid emergencies, including how to recognize them, how to call for help, and how to perform lifesaving skills. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and the 2015 AHA/Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid.

Who should take this course? Any non-healthcare provider involved in childcare who have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives, to include childcare workers, teachers, camp counselors, etc. – and for those who want to learn life-saving CPR/AED and first aid to assist family and friends.
The Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED course trains participants how to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. It teaches CPR/ AED and choking techniques for children and infants. The first aid basics including medical, injury, poison, and environmental emergencies, preventing illnesses and injuries and controlling bleeding & bandaging. Covers topics like using a tourniquet, shock, internal bleeding, burns and electrical injuries, allergic reactions, breathing problems & dehydration, diabetes & low blood sugar, heat-and cold-related emergencies, drowning, amputations, bites and stings, broken bones and sprains. The course also covers splinters, nose bleeds, fainting, seizures, and injuries to the head, eyes, neck, spine, mouth, and teeth. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate of completion for the skills you completed. If an AHA course completion card is required by your employer or compliance regulator, there is a $20.00 AHA administration fee to receive the card. Please contact Betty for additional details.

Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens was designed specifically for workers with a reasonable chance of coming into contact with bloodborne pathogens. The course teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet OSHA requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction. Please contact Betty to arrange site-specific instructions and a custom course for your worksite.
